About a million years ago, I won the USC School of Cinema-Television Screenwriting Contest. The Real McCoy told the story of a family of rum runners who forever change the lives of another family (think Captains Courageous meets The Sting.)

With energy matched only by naiveté, I threw myself at Hollywood. Got some good coverage on a few scripts and had my ass handed to me.

Forty-plus years later, I’m giving it another go.

EXCERPT ONE: Yeti join the commandos

Captain Mikhail Duhovnah leads a Russian commando unit fighting the Nazis. In these scenes, the tight-knit group meet their new recruits —  Yeti, who are treated with a matter-of-fact, magical realism. You’ll also meet Lev, Sonya and Max: Three present-day Russian college students who are being told the story of Yeti or Not by their beloved teacher, the now much old Professor Mikhail Duhovnah.
